1 Million BlackBerry PlayBook Tablets for Q1 2011

As of now tablets are all the rage with CES 2011 showing us several new competitors. However, with Apple expected to debut the second generation iPad in the coming months the current generation of Android tablets need to step up their game in order to compete. One such tablet is the Motorola XOOM running Google’s Android Honeycomb but this is by no means the only competitor on the market.
Another tablet that is set to compete with the iPad 2 is the BlackBerry PlayBook from Research in Motion. This tablet features a 7-inch LCD screen, dual-core 1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 5 megapixel rear facing camera and a 3 megapixel front facing camera alongside 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1. It’s this hardware that many say will give the BlackBerry PlayBook the steam it needs to succeed against Apple’s flagship tablet.
If recent reports are to be believed, Research in Motion seems to think that the tablet will be doing quite well as they are said to be ordering 1 million units for Q1 alone. If this is true and the whole lot gets sold off this may give RIM some success in the mobile phone market as well as consumers look to buy smartphones that will work in harmony with their tablets.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
